Our mission is to help provide the financial support to get them over the finish line.
We will help offset the cost of specialty care to give them the best chance for recovery.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE LUCKY PAW FOUNDATION!
Dear Friends of the
Lucky Paw Foundation,
As we look back and reflect on 2024, we are proud to share that we successfully helped SEVEN critical animals this year, had record fundraising and are heading into the new year prepared to help change lives whenever we are needed.
We couldn’t wrap up the year without sharing the story of our latest recipient, Charley. It’s a great reminder of how dynamic and unpredictable life can be. Charley is a 2-year-old Beagle mix that presented to his veterinarian with sudden onset of extreme lethargy and respiratory distress. Up until that day, he was active and playful. He had no history of any trauma or anything that may have caused his symptoms.
His veterinarian urgently sent him to Michigan State University’s Veterinary Medical Center for treatment where they diagnosed two infected, consolidated lung lobes that needed to be removed. The cause of the infection was unknown.
His owner was instantly hit with an estimate of $8,000-12,000 to explore the chest and have a chance to save him. As daunting as that sounds, the estimate was actually just a starting point, since once they got into Charley’s chest, the doctors were not sure what they would encounter.
In the end, Charley had TWO lung lobes removed!
Lucky Paw Foundation was there to help get the over the finish line financially and after a few days in the Intensive Care, Charley made it home and is slowly getting back to his usual happy, energetic self. Our paws are crossed that as we head into the new year, Charley will make a full recovery and never look back.
We want to say THANK YOU to all of our supporters who make every MIRACLE happen. CHEERS to a very healthy and happy 2025!
