GREETINGS FROM THE LUCKY PAW FOUNDATION!
December 10, 2022
As you may know, we officially got our start on February 1, 2022 with our 501C3 approval. We started immediately sharing the story of our mission and our past "unofficial" patient projects. There are so many tragic stories that were turned into happy outcomes with the help of compassionate and generous people like you. These great success stories helped to fuel the continued enthusiasm and support of animals in impossible situations to get the help they needed to live a normal life. We have already raised over $27,000 this year. Thank you to everyone who has supported us as a young private foundation. We are excited to get started ... so, here we go !

We are so pleased to introduce you to Phoenix.
She is our first patient to receive the
Lucky Paw Foundation's support ! Her story begins as a 12-week-old puppy when she was hit by a car. Her injuries were so severe, she could only drag herself around by her front legs. Sadly, her owner just left her out in the yard to die. A kind stranger heard her cries and came to her rescue. She was taken to a local veterinary hospital where she was diagnosed with 3 broken bones in her rear legs. (Her hip and femur on one side and her tibia/fibula on the other). She had 2 surgeries to repair the bones, but one leg did not heal well due to infection. She was then taken to a specialist surgeon who repaired the leg. Unfortunately, her story does not end there. Even though the leg healed, it healed badly - resulting in a limb deformity. She can walk, but because of the severe bend in the leg, it makes simple walking and running difficult. It has been a long journey for Phoenix and her new family. They have spent over $10,000 and the estimate for the last critical surgery is another $4500. The good doctor at Animal Surgical Center in Flint is confident that he can do one last surgery to realign her leg so that she can function as a normal dog. And, for a 7-month-old dog, that sounds pretty good !
Adopting a severely injured puppy and immediately having to invest so much money and energy into helping her to recover is overwhelming. When the recovery doesn't go as planned, you are faced with the reality that you may not be able to afford the treatment needed for her to make a full recovery. It can be heartbreaking.
That's where
Lucky Paw comes in ! We are pleased to announce that we will be paying for her last surgery. We're hoping that this will finish the recovery process allowing her to live an active, comfortable and happy life. Phoenix has overcome so many obstacles in her young life ~ she deserves to be a normal pup. Her surgery is scheduled for December 20th. We will keep you posted on her recovery.
LUCKY PAW FOUNDATION ~~ MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE
Looking ahead ... we have approved one more application, however, this patient's treatment has been delayed due to his owner's battle with cancer. We will share Shiloh's story once his surgery has been scheduled.
It has been a busy year, getting everything organized and ready to go. As we head into the Christmas holiday season, I want to give special thanks to everyone who has helped us financially as well as with sharing advice and guidance on how to operate efficiently ! I am very grateful for the support. It is exciting to finally get started !
Gratefully,
Tracy Dulak, Director
